Navigating Breakups and Business: Key Insights from Therapy and Coaching
“Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?”
I've been walking some of my therapy clients through breakups lately.
(If you've been following me for a while, you know that I still have a small therapy practice, in addition to being a business coach).
Breakups are the worst. They ache. They involve not just the death of a specific relationship, but often the death of a deeper dream.
…And often, when the dumpee gets some time and space away from the dumper, they see that there were some clear warning signs they had ignored when that first chemical cocktail of dopamine + oxytocin + adrenaline hit at the beginning of the relationship.
The same thing can happen to deep-feeling dreamers who pursue a business.
The excitement of a big vision is not just fun, but valuable: it propels you out of your old job-cubicle and into pursuing the work (and freedom) you love. It helps you take risks.
But, it still helps to have someone who's “earthbound” (and has a grasp on numbers) to point out the key signs to track along the way so that the vision actually works.
This is one reason I love Sandra Booker of Sidekick COO. She's a warm, kind human –who doesn't sugar coat anything. (She's been a “secret weapon” for the success of high powered solopreneurs like Laura Belgray and Tarzan Kay).
In a recent “Brain Trust” conversation, Sandra shared:
✰ How to know when to trust your gut vs. trusting the numbers,
✰The big mistake she learned from—and how you can avoid losing time & money by making the same one,
✰Advice for decision-making as a solopreneur, including which advice to follow and which to ignore,
✰The #1 metric most solopreneurs tend to ignore—at their own peril. ✰How to accept that entrepreneurship involves uncertainty—without letting chaos take over, and
✰Why your “Brain Trust” is your best asset!

With so many people struggling to stay real, avoid the “players” in the "coaching space”, and keep from burning out, it's great to have genuine, grounded people (like Sandra) on your side.
If you're interested in having your own Brain Trust to keep you on track, Sandra is opening her 627 Advisory Board soon, or you can join the Interest List for my Mighty Mastermind that starts in the fall. (You'll be the first to hear when applications open!).
And remember, whether in relationships or in your beloved business, love doesn't have to be blind. You're worth having the best.
You've got this,
