What The Goat Taught Me (It's A Great Time To Do This):
Last week I wrote about a donkey. This week I'm writing about a goat.
Specifically, I'd like to write about Daffodil, the goat that lived in my yard a couple of weeks ago.
The NC mountains where I live are a temperate rainforest, so the lush plant life takes over if you look away for more than 5 minutes.
I'd let my backyard get overrun with weeds, vines, and poison ivy, and it was time to take dramatic action.
Rather than use poisonous spray or a gas-fume-spewing weedeater, I decided to go the Asheville-hippie route and rent a goat from my new yard lady.
She set up the portable electric-fence, put out water for Daffodil, took a “before” picture, and let him go to work.
I'm so glad I took a minute to measure his progress against where he started, rather than only focusing on the remaining weed-patches.
Which brings us to you:
As we pass the halfway mark of 2022, have you taken stock of what you've accomplished? Or are you only focusing on what's left to do?
One of the reasons I'm constantly asking my clients to celebrate wins (even little ones!), is that we have to celebrate what we've accomplished, or we lose our morale and risk burnout.
So set aside some time this week to reflect and journal on your business-- and to celebrate. It'll set the stage for a great second-half of 2022.
Here are some questions to get your juices flowing:
What are some courageous risks that you've taken this year (small or large)?
What are some business-milestones you've reached in 2022?
What are a few of the lessons, ideas, or “ahas" you've learned?
What negative habits, mindsets, “stuff”, peeves,… anything have you let go of?
What have you enjoyed the most in your business so far this year? What have been your favorite moments?
What do you want to continue or enhance between now and the start of 2023?
I'm celebrating my inner-goat. I'm noticing how many metaphorical-weeds I've chomped away at, and reflecting on how delicious it's been to do this work that I love. I hope you will, too.
